Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon caraway seeds
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
  • 3 tablespoons TABASCO® brand Green Jalapeño Pepper Sauce
  • 2 eggs, divided

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350º F.

Grease large cookie sheet. Combine flour, sugar, raisins, baking powder, caraway seeds, baking soda and salt in large bowl. Stir in buttermilk, butter, TABASCO® Green Sauce and 1 egg until well mixed.

Shape dough into a round, about 10-inches in diameter, on prepared cookie sheet. Cut an "X" in top of loaf. Beat remaining egg; brush over top of loaf.

Bake 1 hour or until loaf sounds hollow when tapped. Remove to wire rack to cool. Serve with TABASCO®-infused butter, if desired.*

*Green TABASCO® Butter: Combine 1/2 cup softened butter and 1 tablespoon TABASCO® Green Sauce in small bowl; mix until well blended.

Makes 12 servings.
