Spicy Three-Mushroom Stuffing

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 2 celery stalks, sliced
  • 1 medium red or yellow onion, chopped
  • 2 cups sliced cremini mushrooms
  • 2 cups sliced shiitake mushrooms
  • 2 cups sliced portobello mushrooms
  • 4 cups toasted white bread cubes
  • 1 large egg, slightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 2 teaspoons TABASCO® brand Original Red Sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350º F.

Melt butter in 12-inch skillet over medium heat. Add celery and onion; cook 5 minutes. Add all mushrooms; cook 5 minutes longer or until vegetables are tender, stirring occasionally.

Remove vegetables to large bowl. Toss with bread cubes, egg, chicken broth, TABASCO® Sauce and salt. Place in 12-inch by 8-inch greased baking dish; cover with foil.

Bake stuffing 20 minutes or until heated through. For a crusty top, uncover during last 5 minutes.

Note: Stuffing can be used to stuff a large chicken or Cornish game hens.

Makes about 5 cups.
