In a 5-quart saucepan over high heat, combine potatoes, turnips and enough water to cover; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer 25 to 30 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Drain.
Return vegetables to saucepan and place over high heat for a few seconds to eliminate any excess moisture, shaking saucepan to prevent sticking. Remove from heat and mash vegetables with a potato masher. Stir in hot milk, cheese, butter, TABASCO® Sauce, and salt and mix well.
