Ingredients

  • 4 cups chicken stock
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup quick-cooking grits
  • 2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon TABASCO® brand Original Red Sauce
  • 2 eggs, beaten

Preparation

Combine stock and salt in a medium saucepan over high heat and bring to a boil. Stir in grits and cook according to package directions. Remove from heat and stir in cheese, butter, milk, and TABASCO® Sauce. Add eggs and mix well.

Pour grits into a lightly greased casserole. Bake in a 350° oven for 30 minutes.

Makes 6 to 8 servings.

    Your cheese grits recipe has served us well over some 40 yearss, and it is a tradition at our house during the holiday season. Occasionally we serve cheese grits to our Colorado friends, who look at the bowl and ask, "What is that dish?" Then then they taste the grits and cannot believe they are eating grits. Thanks Tabasco!
