Latest from McIlhenny Company Brings Southern Accent to Buffalo Flavor
AVERY ISLAND, LA, March 9, 2011 – From the company that knows pepper sauce best comes the newest breed in Buffalo style sauces. TABASCO® brand Buffalo Style Hot Sauce is the latest addition to the iconic line of TABASCO® Pepper Sauce flavors. This much-anticipated and requested cayenne pepper-based sauce adds authentic Buffalo flavor to an array of foods, like hot wings, sandwiches and burgers, BBQ and meats.
TABASCO® Buffalo Style Sauce consists of only five high-quality ingredients – red cayenne pepper, salt, water, distilled vinegar and garlic – resulting in a classic cayenne sauce with the Buffalo flavor that Americans have come to know and love. The sauce’s heat level ranges from 300-900 Scoville Heat Units (SHUs), as compared to TABASCO® brand Original Red Sauce, which ranges from 2,500-5,000 SHUs.
“We’ve been producing pepper sauces for over 140 years, so it’s very important that every sauce we add to the TABASCO® portfolio lives up to the high-quality standard set by our original red sauce,” said Paul McIlhenny, President and CEO of McIlhenny Company, maker of TABASCO® brand Products. “So this year, after much development and consumer feedback, we’re proud to welcome this Buffalo Style Hot Sauce into our Family of Flavors.”
TABASCO® Buffalo Style Sauce does more than make one-of-a-kind wings. Its thickness and moderate heat level make it a great condiment for a wide variety of foods, like pizza, dips and beans, and its popular flavor profile makes it a versatile ingredient for a range of recipes.
