Mcilhenny Company Continues Work To Save Louisiana’s Coastal Wetlands

A Letter from Tony Simmons, President and CEO of McIlhenny Company

The McIlhenny family has long been a steward of Avery Island and the surrounding coastal Louisiana wetlands, and as such we are concerned about the dramatic damage they are sustaining.

Save Louisiana’s Coastal Wetlands

Over the past 80 years, Louisiana has lost approximately 1,152,000 acres of coastal wetlands, which provide natural storm protection to coastal residents and are home to a breathtakingly diverse population of fish, birds and mammals. Currently, the wetlands are disappearing at a rate equal to a football field an hour – a devastating loss to those of us who live and work here.

As a resident of coastal Louisiana and an active member of the board of trustees for America’s Wetland Foundation, I am committed to making strides to reduce further loss of our wetlands. I encourage you to join us in this mission and to learn more by visiting www.americaswetland.com.

Many thanks for your consideration.
