Easter Celebration

Easter is a time of spring festivals. It marks the end of Lent, which covers a 46-day period that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Easter Sunday.

Of all the symbols associated with Easter, the egg -- the symbol of fertility and new life -- is the most recognizable. The custom of giving eggs at Easter time can be traced back to ancient Egyptians, Persians, Gauls, Greeks and Romans. It is the universal symbol of Easter celebrations throughout the world and has been dyed, painted, adorned and otherwise embellished in commemoration of its special symbolism. The egg is nature's perfect package.

It is also one of the most versatile foods. Eggs can be prepared in a myriad of ways, from simple scrambled eggs to an elegant omelet, and they provide an inexpensive and easily available source of protein.

TABASCO brand Pepper Sauce is a natural flavor enhancer for eggs. Even kids think eggs taste better with a drop or two of pepper sauce (the classic red or the milder green) which lends piquancy without adding heat. More adventurous types will add an extra dash.

Brighten up breakfast with Scrambled Eggs Piperade. Ordinary scrambled eggs take on a fiery personality when made with TABASCO Sauce, and served with a piperade of sautèed onions and red and green bell peppers atop toasted slices of whole wheat bread. Simple to prepare, this dish is perfect for weekday breakfast, weekend brunch or even a light supper.

Another surprisingly good dish is Poached Eggs and Tomato with Spicy Mayonnaise. Toasted English muffin halves are topped with a thick slice of tomato, poached eggs and a dollop of mayonnaise flavored with TABASCO® Sauce and chopped fresh parsley. It's an irresistible choice guaranteed to spice up any morning.

When in the mood for an omelet, try Classic Omelets, to which you can add your choice of fillings -- delectable combinations of ingredients punched up with generous amounts of TABASCO Sauce.

Two egg dishes perfect for entertaining guests at Sunday brunch are Soufflé Aux Fruits De Mer, developed by Princess Marie Blanche De Broglie who teaches classes at a cooking school in Paris, and Poached Eggs a la Greque.

Give your day a brighter start by adding TABASCO brand Pepper Sauce to your favorite egg dish, and delight in this Easter eggs-travaganza from McIlhenny Company!
