Buffalo Style Tomato Sauce (for pasta or pizza)

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 (28-ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons TABASCO® brand Buffalo Style Hot Sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 6 to 8 fresh basil leaves, torn in half, or 1 teaspoon dried


Heat oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and cook until translucent, about 5 to 7 minutes. Add garlic and cook 1 minute; stir in remaining ingredients. Cook just until mixture starts to bubble, then cover, reduce heat to low, and cook 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Makes 2 1/2 to 3 cups.
