Flank Steak with Southwestern Marinade

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup TABASCO® brand Chipotle Pepper Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (2-pound) flank steak


Combine ketchup, vinegar, brown sugar, TABASCO® Chipotle Sauce, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, oil, mustard and garlic in large bowl. Add steak; turn to coat. Cover. Marinate steak 2 hours or overnight, turning occasionally.

Place steak on rack in grill. Grill steak 12 to 14 minutes for medium rare or 15 minutes for medium, turning every 5 to 6 minutes.

Transfer steak to cutting board; let sit for 5 minutes. Thinly slice across the grain.

Makes 8 servings.

    I've been using this marinade on flat-iron steaks instead of flank steaks. Similiar cut of meat, but a little more tender and juicy when grilled.
